ENGLISH
Writing for senior school is more challenging, with expectations at a much higher and more comprehensive level than required within Year 11 and below. This course will prepare students for the rigours of essay writing and developing skills in higher modality language, as they transition to the final stage of their secondary education.
Understanding the various moduels required for the HSC can be challenging.
- The Common Module, Texts and the Human Experience:
This module was studied in Term 4, and is concerned with different experiences and emotions and how are viewed. However, the relevance of this module’s importance is not always understood, and the course will revise all of the NESA key terms, as well as to ensure that students understand the text that they have studied.
- Module A – Textual Conversations:
This module asks students to compare two different texts, and relate how they resonate or are dissonant. The key terms for this module will be analysed and the NESA requirements linked to their specific texts. Content will also be looked at for each individual student.
- Module B – Comparative Study of Literature:
This module requires an in-depth study of a specific text or poet. The key terms for this module will be analysed and the NESA requirements linked to their specific texts. Content will also be looked at for each individual student.
- Module C – The Craft of Writing:
This module requires students to write one of three styles of writing, based on a piece of stimulus – Persuasive, Discursive, Imaginative. They may also be required to write a reflection on their piece of writing. Hints and tips will be shared with students to enable them to feel more comfortable in approaching this module.
